Hvordan fungerer jokes?
Hvorfor hader folk performancekunst?
Hvad er forskellen mellem høj kultur og lav kultur?
Driving the Doubts Away handler om en forvirret teenager (Olof Olsson), som vil være kunstner. Mirakuløst kommer han på kunstskole — og bliver endnu mere forvirret.
Med denne info-komedie prøver Olof Olsson bl.a. at svare på spørgsmålet: ”What do you do when doubt is killing you?”
Lys kastes over hovedhistorien gennem afstikkere til milliardærer, Valhalla, Mars-barer, gratis kaffe, østrigsk vin, danskvand og meget mere. I kernen af forvirringen står Marcel Duchamps Fountain, et urinal forvandlet til skulptur i 1917, som i 2004 blev kåret som det mest indflydelsesrige kunstværk i det 20. århundrede.
Driving the Doubts Away indeholder 200 illustrationer og fire originale sange.
Kritikeren Torben Sangild skriver: ”overraskende, utroligt sjovt, og tankevækkende.”
Velkommen til en hyggelig aften på Ringsted Galleriet, hvor det samtidig vil være muligt at se den aktuelle udstilling, MEMOGRAFI – AUTOBIOGRAFI med Helene Nymann og Kaspar Bonnén inden performancen eller i pausen samt at få sig et glas gin tonic og lidt snacks.

BIOGRAFI
Den hollandsk-svensk-danske kunstner Olof Olsson arbejder med sprogbaseret performance i grænseegnen mellem foredrag, comedy, talkshows, taler og spørgsmål/svar-sessioner. Som ung eksperimenterede Olsson med journalistik, fotografi og radio DJing. Han studerede senere sprog, filosofi og oversættelsesteori, før han omsider søgte ind på Det Kgl. Kunstakademi, hvorfra han dimitterede i 2002. Efter en årrække med konceptuelle kunsteksperimenter begyndte Olsson at performe i 2007.

Driving the Doubts Away is an info comedy about a confused teenager (Olof Olsson), who wants to be an artist, somehow gets into art school – and gets more confused.
With this info comedy Olof Olsson is among things trying to answer the questiont: ”What do you do when doubt is killing you?”
The main story unfolds through detours into billionaires, Valhalla, Mars bars, free coffee, Austrian wine, sparkling water, and much more. At the core of the confusion stands Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain — a urinal transformed into a sculpture in 1917, which in 2004 was voted the most influential artwork of the 20th century.
The critic, Torben Sangild wrote: ”incredibly funny and thought provoking.”
Welcome to a special and humourous evening at Ringsted Galleriet, where you will also have the opportunity to see the current exhibition, MEMOGRAPHY – AUTOBIOGRAPHY by Helene Nymann and Kaspar Bonnén, either before the performance or during the intermission — and enjoy a gin & tonic and snacks.

BIOGRAPHY
Dutch-Swedish-Danish artist Olof Olsson works with language-based performance in the borderland between lectures, comedy, talk shows, speeches and Q&A sessions. As a young man, Olsson experimented with journalism, photography and radio DJing. He later studied languages, philosophy and translation theory before finally applying to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Art Academy, from which he graduated in 2002. After a number of years of conceptual art experiments, Olsson began performing in 2007.
